Our Principles

Our Principles

Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Umma” is based on the principle of equality of all member communities and organisations. We believe that the implementation of such democratic principles as elections of the Head of Board and the Mufti, equality of every community member, accountability of all the leaders towards the Umma, right to elect and be elected is very important for every Ukrainian Muslim. All the Muslims of the country have to feel equal, free, dedicated and involved in the great cause of reviving Islam in Ukraine.

Islam Without Extremities and Radicalism

Islamic principle of al-Vasatyyah (moderation) is the core value of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Umma”. We stand for preservation and revival of Ukrainian Muslims’ Islamic identity; of our religion, ethics, spirituality and culture, but at the same time we respect the other religions, cultures and traditions. We stand against discrimination, extremism, hate and violence.

Islam is the religion of love and peace, and Muslims must be the role models for spirituality, morals, culture and tolerance.

Religious Administration for All Muslims

Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Umma” is a centralised religious union for all Muslims, for we never divide the believers by their origin and there are no preferences for any ethnic group. The doors of our mosques are always open for everyone who believes in Almighty Allah and identifies themselves with the great Islamic spiritual tradition. There is and can be no Tatar, Arab or Turkish mosque — only the Muslim mosque. Our goal is the spiritual integrity of all Muslims.

We are the Ukrainian Muslims

Ukraine is a sovereign, multi-religious and polyethnic country. History of Islam on the Ukrainian lands counts more than a thousand years. History of Muslim peoples and ethnic groups is tightly intertwined in the cultural and historical heritage of our country. Our communities are pro-Ukrainian, and our believers are brought up in the spirit of patriotism for our Homeland. We stand for the strong, independent and blossoming Ukraine; for peace, tolerance and mutual respect between different ethnic and religious groups of our country.

Our Vector is European

Ukraine is an integral part of the European historical-cultural space, and Ukrainian Muslims belong to the European Muslim Umma.

Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Umma” works in close cooperation with the European Council of Imams, Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe, European Council for Fatwa and Research, as well as with a number of Religious Administrations from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Our cooperation s based on equality, brotherhood, mutual aid and respect.
