Statement of the general meeting of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine "Umma"
The Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine "Ummah", established in 2008 as unification of religious communities from several regions of Ukraine, has always stood in the position of strengthening the Ukrainian State, building an atmosphere of mutual support and trust in Ukrainian society, establishing interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
At the beginning of 2022, "Umma" united more than 30 active communities in different regions of Ukraine. The unprovoked full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, of course, had a significant impact on the activities of our religious administration.
From the first day of the war, activists and volunteers of the RAMU "Umma" actively joined the resistance to Russia's armed aggression. Our communities provided shelter to emigrants, distributed food and medicine, helped with evacuation, and our believers joined the ranks of the territorial defense and the Armed Forces. The Religious Administration continues informational activities to convey the truth about the war in Ukraine and the aggression of the Russian Federation to the Muslim audience abroad.
As a result of the Russian invasion, at least three mosques belonging to the communities of the RAMU "Umma" were completely destroyed or seriously damaged; part of our communities had to stop their activities due to the occupation of the territory by the enemy.
The Religious Administration of the Muslims of Ukraine "Umma" maintains its course for the further development and strengthening of civil society, interfaith dialogue, and conducts educational and volunteer activities. We steadfastly support the territorial integrity and independence of our state, work in the interests of Ukraine and Ukrainian Muslims, are open to representatives of all national communities and Islamic legal schools, and support our state on its European path.
The armed struggle of Ukrainians is fair, because they defend themselves against the aggression of an insidious enemy. We believe that with the help of the Almighty, victory will be for Ukraine. Despite all the internal problems and the fact that religious associations still exist in the country under the influence of the occupiers, our position remains unchanged.
We, the participants of the general meeting of the Religiousl Administration of Muslims of Ukraine "Umma", leaders and representatives of religious communities from different regions of Ukraine, from the first days of the full-scale invasion of Russia, call on the whole world, including Muslim countries, to support Ukraine in its fair fight. We are ready to continue fighting decisively for the existence of our state, for the future of the Ukrainian Muslim community.
We ask the Almighty Allah to protect Ukraine, the Ukrainian Muslims and give us victory!
